How AskCher Works

An admin-mediated tuition marketplace for matching Singapore parents with vetted tutors.

For Parents

  1. 1. Post A Request. Tell us the subject, level, mode (online or physical), preferred days and times, lesson duration, frequency, the start date you're hoping for, your choice of tutor (part-time, full-time, current MOE, ex-MOE), and a budget if you have one. It takes about 5-10 minutes.
  2. 2. We Broadcast It To Vetted Tutors. Your request goes out immediately on our Telegram channel. Tutors subscribed to the channel see it and apply directly on our website via their tutor dashboard.
  3. 3. Tutors Apply. Each tutor who's interested submits their proposed hourly rate, the days and times they can teach, the start date they can commit to, and a short pitch of why they should be chosen.
  4. 4. We Curate A Shortlist. Within 1-2 days, an AskCher administrator reviews every applicant against your preferences in your tuition request form and sends you a curated shortlist of up to five candidates.
  5. 5. You Choose. Choose from the shortlist sent via WhatsApp. You may let us know if you have any questions during the shortlisting process about tutor qualifications, proposed hourly rates, start dates etc.
  6. 6. Get Matched. Once you let us know your pick, AskCher confirms the match with both you and the tutor on WhatsApp with the lesson details (subject, day, time, rate, start date).
  7. 7. Phone Numbers Are In Your Confirmation Email. Right after the match, AskCher emails you the lesson contract and the tutor's WhatsApp number (we email the tutor your number too). Reach out directly to coordinate the first lesson - introduction, materials, anything you'd like the tutor to prepare.
  8. 8. Pay After The First Two Weeks Of Lessons (Or 50% Of The Total Monthly Fees). We send you the PayNow details before the first lesson, but you only pay us after all the lessons in the second week are conducted - within 3 days of the last lesson in the 2 weeks. After that, you pay the tutor directly. PDF receipt available on request.

For Tutors

  1. 1. Register And Complete Your Profile. Magic-link sign-in (no password). Add your photo, qualifications, subjects, levels, hourly rate range, and your tutor type (part-time, full-time, current/ex-MOE).
  2. 2. Watch For New Requests. Join the AskCher Telegram channel and watch for updates. Every new tuition request is only broadcasted via the Telegram channel. Click the link in the Telegram post and you'll be redirected to apply on our website.
  3. 3. Apply. Send your proposed hourly rate, the days and times you're available, the start date you can commit to, and a short pitch of why you should be chosen.
  4. 4. Get Shortlisted By An Admin. We pick up to five candidates per request based on profile fit and the strength of your pitch, then send the shortlist to the parent.
  5. 5. Get Matched. If the parent picks you, AskCher emails you the lesson contract and the parent's WhatsApp number (we email the parent yours too). Reach out directly to coordinate the first lesson.
  6. 6. Conduct The First Two Weeks Of Lessons (Or 50% Of The Total Monthly Fees). Tutors will not be paid for the first 2 weeks of lessons (or 50% of the Total Monthly Fees) as these are the commission fees charged by AskCher agency on the tutors. The fees for the first 2 weeks of lessons (or 50% of the Total Monthly Fees) will be made directly to AskCher, instead of to the tutors.

    For subsequent lessons (after the agency commission has been paid), you shall receive payment directly from the client. Since the commission fees have already been collected by AskCher, you will be paid the full tuition fees from here on.

    Example: After the first 2 lessons have been completed, client John pays the tuition fees for the 1st and 2nd lesson directly to the agency. Client John then arranges to pay the tutor every subsequent 4 lessons.

A Note On Cancellations

Both parents and tutors may cancel a confirmed booking by messaging AskCher.

If the cancellation happens before the first lesson is conducted, no lesson fee is payable.

If any lessons have already been conducted within the first 2 weeks of the arrangement, parents remain liable to pay AskCher for the completed lessons.

After the first 2 weeks, any payment for completed lessons should be settled directly between the parent and tutor.

Repeated or last-minute cancellations by tutors may result in the tutor account being suspended or banned at AskCher’s discretion.
